From Manor House to Grove & Grain
Every brand has a first draft.
Ours was Manor House Distillery.
When this whole thing was still an idea, Manor House was the name we started with. We designed logos, made signs, and began imagining what our future distillery might look like.
Then the idea started becoming real.
And we realized the name didn't quite tell the story we wanted our distillery to tell.
So we went back to the drawing board.
Grove & Grain Is Born
We wanted a name that felt connected to what we were actually building—a Florida distillery rooted in the ingredients, agriculture, history, and craftsmanship of our home state.
Grove & Grain fit.
The Grove represents the citrus and agriculture that have shaped Florida for generations.
The Grain represents the raw ingredients and traditional craft at the heart of distilling.
Together, they gave us a name that could grow with us.
Now we needed a logo.
Finding Our Look
As you can see from these photos, that didn't happen overnight either.
There were sketches. Different typefaces. Different arrangements. Oranges worked into letters. Monograms. Circles. A few ideas that seemed great at the time…and a few we're probably okay leaving in the archives.
But each version helped us get a little closer.
Over time, we kept coming back to the same elements: Old Florida, citrus, craftsmanship, and a sense that Grove & Grain had been around longer than it actually had.
We wanted something with character—not a slick, modern logo that could belong to a distillery anywhere in the country.
Still Evolving
Our identity has continued to evolve as Grove & Grain has grown.
We've simplified some things, refined others, and recently began developing a new mark centered around a Florida citrus fruit and keyhole—a nod to the groves that helped shape our state and the feeling of discovering something from another time.
The logo may have changed along the way, but the idea behind it has become clearer with every version.
Create spirits here.
Tell real Florida stories.
Build something that feels like it belongs here.
Looking back at that original Manor House logo is a reminder of just how far a little idea can go.
And we're definitely not finished yet.
