It's Starting to Look Like a Distillery

For a while, progress inside the future home of Grove & Grain looked a lot like demolition.

Open walls. Exposed floor joists. Holes where floors used to be. Plans spread across whatever flat surface we could find.

Over the last couple of months, though, something has changed.

We're finally starting to put things back together.

From the Ground Up

A lot of the biggest progress isn't necessarily the most exciting to photograph—but it's the work that makes everything else possible.

The floors have been rebuilt, and we've made major progress on the electrical and plumbing that will eventually serve the tasting room.

When you're renovating a historic building, getting to this point takes a little more than simply deciding where you want an outlet.

There have been old walls to work around, exposed brick, existing structural elements, and plenty of surprises along the way.

Slowly, the plans on paper are becoming an actual space.

And We Have a Bar... Sort Of

This might be our favorite part.

For the first time, you can actually stand upstairs and see the beginnings of the future Grove & Grain bar.

Right now, it's mostly a skeleton—but it's there.

The framing finally gives us a sense of the size, shape, and flow of the space we've been imagining for so long. Eventually, this is where we'll pour Grove & Grain spirits, make cocktails, tell some Florida stories, and raise a few glasses with all of you.

There's obviously quite a bit of work between this and that first pour.

But we'll take it.

Preserving What We Can

As new systems go in, we're still surrounded by reminders of what was here before us.

The old brick walls, original wood, worn surfaces, and little imperfections throughout the building are exactly what made us fall in love with this place in the first place.

Our goal has never been to make a 1915 building look brand new.

We're building something new inside something worth preserving.

And with every floorboard that goes back down, every pipe that's run, and every new piece of framing that goes up, we're getting a little closer.

The bones are there.

Now Grove & Grain is starting to take shape.
